VALORANT- Data Visualization and Information Design
Objective
Create a design solution that would tie all three projects (brochure, exhibition, and book) together using my research, data analysis, written and visual content in order to communicate my theme for visitors of the Royal Ontario Museum.
Theme
VALORANT because I love playing this game and the design elements are eye-catching and enjoyable. VALORANT is a first person shooting game by company RIOT Games. It is a five versus five game that features agents with special abilities and various maps.
Brochure
Deliverables: 6 pages, 11 x 25.5 inches, 3 panel gatefold, two-sided print, full colour
Duration: 2 weeks
Software used: Indesign and Illustrator
Since a brochure is a very quick and informative piece, I wanted to make sure to only include what was necessary. Some of my design decisions were to incorporate the lingos/phrases used in the game and the two main colours of the game such as red and teal.
The information I included were what the game is about, how many and where people play this game, who are the agents, rankings, and popular maps and weapons.
Exhibition
Deliverables: Square exhibition 24x24 feet plus entrance doors and 10x22 foot foyer
Duration: 4 weeks
Software used: Indesign, Illustrator, and SketchUp.
The second project I had to create was the exhibition for the ROM. The exhibition is very big meaning I had to research more information to include. After researching, I used graphics that I found from the game and would tie that together with the information. As for the interior design of the exhibition, I wanted to make it look cool and fun because that is what I feel from playing the game. I added large glass triangles that would lead from the hallway to the exhibit. A large VALORANT logo is hung from the ceiling and the space is carefully designed for visitors to navigate in a specific pathway. The colours used are again the brand colours.

Book
Deliverables: 2D editorial design book, 8.5x11
Duration: 5 weeks
Software used: Indesign
The final project was a book that visitors could purchase after the exhibition at the ROM. This book would essentially cover everything in the exhibition but in more depth. I also focused on the competitive aspect of the game as it is an essential part for players who compete and like to watch the competitions. The cover of the book are images from the VALORANT Champions 2021 Die For You music video. I collaged the two to create a duality.
